The bulk storage is 470 meters long, 110 meters wide and 46.5 meters high. It is currently the largest and highest space frame structure of the same type in Hunan province. It is also the first giant “capsule”-shaped storage in Changjiang River. The span is 110 meters, which is the second longest in China.

In June 2019, the environmental protection and quality improvement project of Chenglingji Port started. On October 19, the first block space frame of the bulk storage was officially installed. It completed at the end of November. The project has the characteristics of fully enclosed, new equipment, excellent technology, no pollution, strong loading and unloading capacity, and wide coverage. It has a leading position in the environmental protection of inland rivers in the country.

Capsule bulk storage

On April 25, 2020, the giant “capsule” is with the characteristics of “fully enclosed, pollution-free, strong loading and unloading capability, and wide coverage”.  Nowadays, after the ship arrives at the port, the ship unloading machine unloads the cargo at a speed of 800 tons to 1,000 tons per hour.  It takes 1.5 hours to complete the bulk loading of a train of 55 carriages (about 3,500 tons). After the “capsule” was put into use, the shipping efficiency of Chenglingji old port increased by nearly 70%, and the cost of loading and unloading decreased by 25%.

Raw material storage in Tangshan 1

The dome-shaped raw material storage is located in Hegang Industrial Park, Tangshan City. It includes the civil construction of 1#, 2# and 3# circular raw mterial storage and other related buildings and structures. The three stockyards are 120 meters in diameter, 0.7 meters thick and 20 meters high.

The first arch of raw material storage

The space frame project has the reputation of “the first arch of the raw material storage”. The total length of the structure is 698.92 meters, the span between the supports is 109 meters, the main distance between the supports is 8.96 meters, the bottom elevation of the structure supports is 0.7 meters, and the thickness of the space frame shell is 3.5 meters. The elevation of the top of the structure is 39.748 meters, the structural form is a square quadrangular cone bolt ball space frame, the node form is a bolt ball, and the space frame support form is a column point support, which is mainly composed of rods, bolt balls, high-strength bolts, and supports and supports. It is composed of space frame accessories such as brackets, sleeves and pins.

The raw material yard is composed of  limestone storage, ore storage, and  coke storage.There are 3 space frame limestone storages, with a total construction area of 15504.91m2.  ore storage is designed as a two-span (50.00m) structure, with a total construction area of 18500m2. The sloping top height of 25.45m, and the longitudinal length is 185m. The coke storage structure is designed as a single-span structure with a total construction area of 12093m2. The dimension is  59.6m(span)x19.8m(height)x202.9m(length).

The yard of Shenglong Metallurgical Co., Ltd is closed. The existing mechanized raw material yard is an open-air yard without dust net around the yard. Due to the climatic characteristics of this region, it is windy and rainy all year round. Therefore, the material pile is easy to collapse in heavy rain. It results that  the track of the stacker and reclaimer is buried. And it also cause the powder material is easily washed away by the rain. In addition, in the windy weather, the ore powder was blown up by the strong wind and scattered in all directions, which greatly affected the surrounding environment. In view of the local climate characteristics and local environmental protection requirements, client has decided to build a space frame processing raw material shed to close the yard.

This space frame structure is dry coal shed for Wucaiwan power plant.

Wucaiwan Power Plant is located in Wuliwan Town, Changji City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.  It is established in  September 09, 2015. Planning capacity is 2 × 350MW + 4 × 660mW + 4 × 1000MW, the first phase of the project 2 × 350MW supercritical coal-fired indirect air refrigeration unit started in April 2011, in 2013, the two units were put into production; the second phase of the project 2 × 660MW unit It is scheduled to start working in November 2011, and the two units were put into production in July 2014.

The structure is longitudinal arched shape. The element of space frame is quadrangular pyramid. The space frame span is 93m, the length is 182m, the arch is 31.5m, and the height is 3.3m, the projected area is 170,72m2.

The full enclosed coal shed grid structure use bolt ball connection form. The steel selection complies with relevant national code. The steel pipe is  high-frequency welded. Steel is  Q235B steel and #20 steel. The  bolt ball is #45 high-quality carbon structure steel; The high strength bolt is 40Cr with grade of  10.9 s & 9.8 s; The sleeve is Q235 stee & # 45 steel; The sealing plate and cone are Q235B steel. The cladding material is the aluminized zinc-plated steel plate, the thickness is 0.6mm with type 840.

The total cladding area is 32830 m2 and space frame weight is 1276t.
